Our first feature film, The West and the Ruthless is getting a 4K Release! We’re really excited to dive back into the world of Crow’s Landing.
When the film was first released by Sony in 2017, the film was released in HD. In the next few years, 4K releases would become more and more prominent and we’re thrilled to show off The West and the Ruthless in all its glory.
During the initial post-production of The West and the Ruthless, we knew the release was going to be in HD, so we mastered everything in HD. That included the titles, the coloring, the FX and in some cases stock shots that were used for establishing shots.
As we’ve headed back in, we’ve found that a handful of the shots that we purchased aren’t available in 4K and this meant we had to dive back into the edit. There were also a handful of notes that we had always wanted to address if we had the opportunity. This meant restoring scenes that hadn’t been seen since the premiere as well as a few alternate takes.
We’re excited to make a few of these tweaks and also have the film look better than it ever has before!
The West and the Ruthless 4K Release will be available worldwide this fall and in the US and Canada in 2024.
