Here’s an excerpt from a brand new article about the making of Tales from Black Manor over on Raindance:
FROM FOOTAGE TO FABLE
We just completed our Third and Final Series of Tales from Black Manor. An entire world that now comprises 14 Episodes about a family whose history intertwines with the Deaths. And we made the entire thing from stock footage.
There’s a unique thrill that comes with building an entire world from scratch. It's an invitation to craft not just characters and plots but an entire universe with its own rules, history, and pulse.
This particular tale spans centuries—from the dark days of the 1300s to an unknown future—telling the haunting legacy of a single family entangled with Death itself. Tales from Black Manor is about lineage, loss, and fighting fate.
This project began as an experiment. During the pandemic, when traditional production was halted and film sets went dark. Creativity itself felt like it was standing still. We had just completed our second feature film and felt the wind in our sails and then suddenly we couldn’t make our next film. So we began to wonder what we could create without production?
