During the creation of Tales from Black Manor, we designed several ALT posters for different episodes. These were either designed to be the original poster and we decided to go a different route, or the edit for the episode itself changed and a new design was more fitting.
We’re so excited to have completed the Tales from Black Manor Series!
Tales From Black is comprised of 3 Series that details the lives of a family intertwined with Death itself. This has been such a wonderful project to work on! What started out as a strange experiment has become an entire history of intertwined tales and stories.

SERIES 3
Episode 14: “The End of All Things”
When Annabelle Black goes venturing off into the forgotten East Corridor of Black Manor, she finds something new. It’s a simple glass orb - but when she touches it - she can see everything. She can see the beginning, middle, and end of time, and lurking there is the Final Death.
An Epilogue
The End of All Things was designed to feel like an epilogue to the series, one last moment that comes even after the final episode and tells the death of Black Manor and maybe even the entire world.

Episode 13: “The Keepers”
In the tower of Black Manor, the Keeper guards the manors darkest secrets. Amidst catacombs, graves, and the Book of Death, he safeguards the legacy, offering others eternal life at the cost of a deadly bargain.
The Final Episode
As we mentioned earlier, we’re big Mike Flannigan fans. The House of Usher was absolutely incredible, but we also really loved Midnight Mass. This was a big inspiration when we began to put together The Keepers. It impacted both the melancholy tone and the beauty of the Catholic Church images.

The Grim
For the final appearance of The Land of Death and Dreams we also include nightmares. We were really inspired by Mike Flannigan’s The House of Usher on this one. Specifically for the jester.

Episode 11: “Miss Nobody”
Spreadsheets. TV. Noodles. Try not to cry. Go to bed. Wait for the sweet release of death. Wake up. Do it again. And again. Endless hours, same routine. Until one night something different happens. An intrusion offers an unexpected twist.
Getting Lost
For Miss Nobody, we began to think about seeing some of these stories from different perspectives. Our inspiration was the TV series Lost. This was one of the first times I had ever seen a series go in depth on a completely different perspective and we wanted to give that a try with Miss Nobody who had previously been seen in Dark Days.

Return to Shallow Grave
When we first began working on Tales From Black Manor, Series 2 - we were really inspired by the early films of Danny Boyle. Specifically Shallow Grave and Trainspotting and we wanted to create something with that feeling. Alice & The Watch was originally written to feel this way - but that ended up changing story and leaned much more towards David Fincher for tone. With Dark Days, we were finally able to get back to some of that early inspiration.

Episode 10: “Dark Days”
At Black Manor, death is just an option. Uncle Oliver teaches 'Bloody Mary' the ropes and she’ll do whatever it takes to keep her immortality and her pretty face.
Kicking off Series 3!
For the first episode of Series 3, Heart of War, we were inspired by the films of Zack Snyder, particularly 300. When 300 came out, it is was mind blowing. The speed ramps were so punk rock. When creating the battle scenes in the Heart of War, we were really lucky. All of the footage was shot in slow motion. For a lot of the scenes we sped them back up to normal, but in a few cases, specifically towards the end of the battle when the deaths start to mount - we slowed everything down.

Episode 9 “Heart of War”
A father's haunting tale of a woman named Death promises victory to the son who slaughters the most in her name. The House of Black rises, and in a gruesome war, they claim triumph.

Tales from Black Manor began as an experiment. The first part of the experiment came during the pandemic when all production ceased. We wondered, was it possible to tell a story with stock? We were also interested in telling stories and building a mythology around a single idea. That idea became Black Manor.
Series 3 will consist of 6 brand new tales of darkness as the series comes to a close.

Heart of War
Dark Days

The Accidental Death
The Keepers

Horror Films of the 70s
If some of the earlier episodes lean into modern day Dark Fantasy films, Mommy’s Little Star leans more towards the horror films of the 70s. Part of that is the story. The family becoming more and more cult like - whether or not they’re still following the Book of Death, or beginning to embellish their rituals was really fun to play with. The footage we found and then the coloring, lean towards those films of the 70s, while still remaining rooted in the look and feel of Black Manor.
