There was an approach we had been wanting to experiment with where we could use hand made paper cutouts and textures, scan them in and import them into After Effects and tell a story. We had been wanting to try it for years.
One cold morning in February while I was talking (or rather whining) to Nick about wanting to do a an awesome project that felt Tim Burton-Neil Gaiman-Jamie Caliri-Walt Disney Museum-(which you have to go to if you are ever in the Presidio of San Francisco) -sort of-look. He chimed in about what if we do “The Umbrella Factory,” the adaption he’d been working on of the Monkey’s Paw by W.W. Jacobs.
